A report from Bob Nightengale of USA Today said today the Arizona Diamondbacks are actively pursuing Detroit Tigers pitcher Rick Porcello. The Tigers have been shopping Porcello around the league this off-season, seeing what value he holds on the market. After re-signing Anibal Sanchez to a 5 year $80 million dollar deal, many saw Porcello as a potential trade bait for a defensive shortstop. According to Nightengale, thats what they'll receive:
The #Dbacks will now try to package SS Nick Ahmed and pitching prospect intrade for #Tigers starter Rick Porcello, one NL official says

Nick Ahmed is a big shortstop who stands 6'3, 205 lbs. an hit .269 last year with 6 HR and 40 SB in advanced Single A ball. Ahmed is a solid defensive shortstop who possesses speed and quickness when on the base paths and making plays on the field.
With Ahmed a year or two removed from the Majors, Peralta looks to be the perfect stop gap at shortstop until Ahmed is ready.
No deals have been made and reports say the talks are in the beginning phases.
More updates will follow on this possible trade.
